Memory Blocks - SOLD
These look antique, don’t they? They are actually custom-made and very recently. I found a lovely artist who makes wonderfully and believably antiquated toys. She worked with me and created a set of these amazing blocks, that I am now painting. The lady on right is my grandmother Manya, the photo was taken around 1925.

WHOA! The reflections! Shiny and masterful, I’d say! I love that hint of an edge to the support behind the blocks that’s there but almost not….. very cool. I’m dieing to know the significance of the “Z”, the 7and the pull toy rabbit. I love your oils.
What a nice thing to say, Leslie! Thank you so much! The only significant thing here is my grandmother, her photo from almost a century ago. Everything else was accidental, images chosen by color or shape to fit into a composition I liked. “7” is there only because it is on the same block as the main photo, “Z” was picked because it was red, but I could have picked “8” which is also red. I never had a bunny on wheels as a child, but it is a toy for a 3 or 4 year old, and that was the age and the time frame I wanted to relate to.

Hi Alex, cool blocks! I’ve always loved blocks. And amazing painting. So realistic. I thought the “Z” was for Zonis. The reflections on the table are masterful. What a feeling of nostalgia I get from this painting.
Thank you, Carol! The “Z” could be for Zonis, I don’t mind. In fact, people keep looking for meanings in these. I am thinking I better have some meanings associated with them. My main goal here was to create an atmosphere of a world long gone. That word “nostalgia” you’ve written in your comment is my reward.
