Remember how it sounded when Pavarotti sang it? It is hard to come up with something sounding sweeter than that. And of course pear shapes invoke certain associations. Anyway, pears are so easy to anthropomorphize… they are so much like us. I have no trouble imagining them serenading each other or singing a duet.
Of course, painting a music score is a lot less sweet. It’s pretty much a pain in … wherever. In oil while keeping perspective… I hope I did it correctly. If you can read music and see a mistake – don’t tell me, I don’t want to know!

Alex – this is awesome! My new favorite now. Love the perspective you got in the sheet music, and the stains and tears in the paper are wonderful. Also really like how the pears themselves are softly shaded and almost monochromatic, so they give great contrast against the detailed ground. And their cast shadows with the clefs still visible in them – wow! Oh yeah, and as always, fabulous composition. ♥!

I like this painting and the interesting composition. Don’t worry, I can’t really read music, but I was fascinated at how you so carefully painted all those notes! I like the yellowing on the sheet music. And of course those pears are luscious.
